Dear all,

The term of the current Program Director of the Natuur- en Sterrenkunde 
Joint Degree BSc program, Prof. Dr. Anna Watts, ends on 31st August 
2024. She will not continue for a second term.

In consultation with our UvA colleagues at IoP and API, it has been 
agreed to advertise the vacancy for the next Program Director Natuur- en 
Sterrenkunde by means of an open procedure. A vacancy text describing 
the function and the requirements of possible candidates is being 
composed as we speak.

As soon as this vacancy text has been approved by all parties, it will 
be circulated among the staff of the three participating institutes 
(VU-DPA, UvA-IoP, UvA-API). A selection committee will then assess the 
applications and provide an advice to the management of the three 
institutes.

We expect to appoint the new OD N&S BSc by april or may 2024, so that 
they have some common period to shadow Anna and ensure an efficient 
transition.

While the formal vacancy description and the opening of the procedure 
will still take a few weeks (maybe less), we welcome already now all 
potentially interested colleagues to reach out and discuss informally 
their interests in this position.
