Dear colleagues,
The VU Behavioural Lab (VBL) supports behavioural research at VU by offering lab facilities and access to an online student pool. This pool already includes ~700 students and has been used in 18+ studies in the past seven months.
To further expand the pool, VBL kindly asks for your support in reaching more students. The most effective way is by publishing the information on the Canvas page of the course(s) you are teaching.
How you can help:

Upload the attached flyer to your Canvas course page (“BETA_VU Student pool ad”).

Add the attached slide at the start or end of your lecture(s) (“BETA_VU student pool ad slide”).

Optionally, forward this email to colleagues who also teach.

By sharing this information, you help increase awareness among students and contribute to building a stronger, more representative participant pool at VU.

Dear educational directors and coordinators,

My name is Srinidhi Desikan, and I am the Lab Manager of the VU Behavioural Lab (VBL).

In collaboration with the Dean of the School of Business and Economics (Prof. Arjen van Witteloostuijn) and our Scientific Director (Prof. Femke van Horen), we launched the VU Student Pool to support behavioural research across faculties.



The VBL is a central research facility at VU offering state-of-the-art labs and participant recruitment services for behavioural experiments. Researchers from multiple faculties use the VU student pool to recruit students for paid studies, giving students the opportunity to engage with real research while earning money.



Since August 2025, BETA faculty is an active subscriber and user of VBL. To help researchers conduct their study and recruit participants, we are looking for more VU students to join the pool. We are currently promoting the VU Student Pool through faculty and student newsletters, but our experience shows that the greatest interest comes when teachers share it via Canvas course pages. Many colleagues from other faculties already support us in this way.

To further expand the pool, I would like to kindly ask if it would be possible to upload the attached information (in English and in Dutch) in your associated Canvas courses.
