Beste collega’s,

Bijgevoegd ontvangen jullie een overzicht van de Beta aanmeldingen van alle opleidingen op peildatum 27 augustus 2025, inclusief de instroomprognoses per opleiding, voor een aantal opleidingen de aanmeldingen per specialisatie, en de marktaandelen.
Let op: aanmeldingen zijn nog geen inschrijvingen.

Instroomprognoses

  *   De instroomprognoses zijn t.o.v. vorige week weinig veranderd.
  *   De instroomprognoses zijn gebaseerd op de conversie van aanmeldingen naar voltijd hoofdinschrijvingen van de afgelopen jaren. Het model dat hiervoor wordt gebruikt is ontwikkeld door het VU Education Analytics Team.

  *   De prognoses voor mBA en mMAT betreffen alleen de voltijdstudenten. Vandaar dat deze wat lager uitvallen dan de aanmeldcijfers op peildatum aangeven, waarin ook deeltijd aanmeldingen zijn meegenomen.

Aanmeldcijfers Bèta

  *   De toelatingcategorieën worden steeds relevanter om de te verwachten instroom in te schatten.
  *   Van de in totaal 4.689 aanmeldingen zijn er momenteel 3.188 met de status ‘goedgekeurd’, en 853 met de status ‘Voorwaardelijk geaccepteerd’.
  *   Voor de Joint Degrees waarvan de UvA penvoerder is zijn alleen de goedgekeurde aanmeldingen zichtbaar.

Numeri Fixi opleidingen

  *   Bijna alle aanmeldingen voor de NF opleidingen zijn inmiddels goedgekeurd, wat betekent dat de student is ingeschreven.
De te verwachten instroom is voor deze opleidingen nu dus redelijk duidelijk:

Specialisaties

  *   Voor de volgende masteropleidingen zijn de aanmeldingen per specialisatie bijgevoegd in een tabblad in de bijlage: mAI, mBA, mCS-JD, mDDS, mES en mHS. Hierin is ook een uitsplitsing naar de huidige toelatingscategorieën van de aanmeldingen toegevoegd.
  *   Voor overige opleidingen met specialisaties in het curriculum geldt dat de meeste studenten nog geen intekening hebben op een specialisatie. In september verspreiden we per opleiding een overzicht van alle inschrijvingen, inclusief gegevens over de specialisaties.

Marktaandelen
Op basis van de huidige aanmeldingen wordt ook een overzicht van de marktaandelen beschikbaar gesteld. Hierin staan de gewogen aanmeldingen: Studenten met twee studielink aanmeldingen tellen voor de helft mee in het aantal aanmeldingen, studenten met drie aanmeldingen tellen voor 1/3 mee, etc.
Deadlines en afwijsmomenten verschillen per instellingen en dit kan de marktaandelen in dit stadium vertekenen.
De aanmeldcijfers voor de Joint Degrees zijn alleen zichtbaar voor de penvoerder instelling omdat alle aanmeldingen nu daar plaatsvinden
Dit overzicht kan een indicatie geven over hoe de VU aanmeldingen zich verhouden tot die aan andere instellingen. Opvallende verschillen met vorig jaar zijn gemarkeerd.

o   Aanmeldingen nemen landelijk flink af voor bAI (-434 gewogen aanmeldingen) en bCS (-387 gewogen aanmeldingen). RU opleiding B Computing Science en UM opleiding Computer Science dalen het meest. Voor mAI dalen de aanmeldingen voor de VU het sterkst.

o   bGZW: Aanmeldingen nemen landelijk af (-113 gewogen aanmeldingen).

o   mNEURO: Aanmeldingen nemen landelijk toe (+92 gewogen aanmeldingen), dit is ook bij VU zichtbaar.

o   mES: Een daling is zichtbaar voor de VU.

o   bBMED: neemt bij UM sterk toe (+483 gewogen aanmeldingen).

o   bBA: de verwante EUR opleiding B Econometrie en Operationele Research stijgt sterk (+180 gewogen aanmeldingen).

o   bMNW: VU en TUE opleiding B Biomedische Technologie dalen in aanmeldingen, terwijl RUG opleidng B Biomedische Technologie stijgt.

o   bSCH-JD: RUG opleiding Scheikundige Technologie stijgt behoorlijk in aanmeldingen.

Volgende week verspreiden we de stand van inschrijvingen en instroom. De opleidingscoördinatoren en studieadviseurs ontvangen dan ook de betreffende studentgegevens.

Please find enclosed an overview of Beta applications from all Bachelor and Master programs as of reference date 27th of August, including preliminary enrolment prognoses, for certain programmes the applications per specialization, and the market shares.

Enrollment prognoses

  *   Enrollment projections have remained quite stable compared to last week.
  *   The prognoses are based on the conversion of applications to full-time main enrollments in recent years. The model used for this purpose was developed by the VU Education Analytics Team.
  *   The prognoses for mBA and mMAT only concern full-time students, which is why they are somewhat lower than the enrolment figures indicate on the reference date, as these also include prospective part-time student.

Beta Application numbers

  *   Admission categories are becoming increasingly relevant for estimating expected enrolment numbers.
  *   Of the total 4,689 remaining applications, there are currently 3,188 with the status ‘Approved’, and 853 with the status ‘Conditionally Accepted’.
  *   For the Joint Degrees of which the UvA is the leading institution, only the approved applications are visible.

Numeri Fixi programs

  *   Almost all applications for NF programmes have now been approved, which means that the student is enrolled.

The expected enrollment for these programmes is now quite clear.

Specialisations

  *   Specialisations for the following master programmes, the applications per specialisation are included in a tab in the attachment: mAI, mBA, mCS-JD, mDDS, mES and mHS. This also includes a breakdown of these applications by their current admission categories.
  *   For other programmes with specialisations in the curriculum, most students have not yet registered for a specialisation. In September, we will distribute an overview of all enrollments for each programme, including details about the specialisations.

Market Shares
Based on current applications, a summary of market shares is also made available. This includes weighted applications: Students with two studielink applications count for half in the number of applications, students with three applications count for 1/3, etc.
Deadlines and rejection times may vary between institutions, and this may distort market shares at this stage.
The application figures for the Joint Degrees are only visible to the leading institution because all applications now take place there.
This overview may give an indication of how VU applications compare to those at other institutions. Notable differences from last year are highlighted.

  *   Applications declined significantly nationwide for bAI (-434 weighted applications) and bCS (-387 weighted applications). RU's B Computing Science program and UM's Computer Science program are seeing the largest declines. For mAI, applications for the VU declined the most.
  *   bGZW: Applications declined nationwide (-113 weighted applications).
  *   mNEURO: Applications increased nationwide (+92 weighted applications), which is also visible at the VU.
  *   mES: A decline is visible for the VU.
  *   bBMED: there is a strong increase at UM (+483 weighted applications).
  *   bBA: the related EUR program B Econometrics and Operational Research is rising sharply (+180 weighted applications).
  *   bMNW: the VU and TUE program B Biomedical Technology declined in applications, while RUG program B Biomedical Technology is rising.
  *   bSCH-JD: RUG's Chemical Technology program is seeing a significant increase in applications.

Next week, we will distribute the status of enrolments and intake. The programme coordinators and study advisers will then also receive the relevant student data.
