[Chern.fsw] June 23rd & 24th: Studying Global China workshop // Program online

Dear CHERN members,

as announced previously, the next Studying Global China workshop takes 
place on June 23rd & 24th in Berlin! You are cordially invited to 
participate. The registration [1] deadline is May 31st. Please find the 
full program here [2].

The first day of the workshop, features four lectures by Ching Kwan Lee 
(UCLA) on Researching Global China, Heejin Lee (Yonsei University) on 
The Rise of China in International Standardization and the Geopolitics 
of (Digital) Standards, Yuka Kobayashi (SOAS / DGAP) on Global China - 
in the study of China and World Order, and Bertram Lang 
(Philipps-Universität Marburg) on Global China in the Philanthropy 
World.

On the second day of the workshop, PhD students and early postdoctoral 
researchers will have the opportunity to learn about scholarship 
opportunities, present their research, and discuss challenges related to 
fieldwork. In addition to her lecture on Monday, C. K. Lee will lead two 
feedback sessions in which PhD students can receive comments on their 
research projects. If you are interested in participating in one of 
these sessions with C. K. Lee, please submit a one-page summary of your 
research project (350-500 words) to merle.groneweg at hu-berlin.de. Your 
summary should include your research question, methodology, current 
stage of research, and the status of your data collection. The workshop 
is open to all PhD students, with a preference for those in the early 
planning stages, about to begin fieldwork, or who have recently returned 
from the field. Please note: The sessions with C. K. Lee are separate 
from the informal discussions on research and fieldwork. To take part in 
those, it is sufficient to complete the registration form.
