Dear CHERN colleagues,

We are organising an online workshop on 25-26 September 2025!

We invite scholars to contribute to our call for papers, “Beyond 
Hegemony: China’s Quest for Domestic Autonomy, Creation of Global 
Dependencies?” In an era marked by growing inter-imperial competition, 
this project explores how China’s pursuit of economic, political, and 
technological autonomy is reshaping global dynamics.

While striving for self-sufficiency amid increasing geopolitical 
pressures, China’s strategies are simultaneously creating new 
dependencies in global trade, finance, and technology.

We welcome both theoretical and empirical studies that examine the 
domestic factors, regulatory approaches, and international responses 
influencing China’s evolving policies.

Please submit an extended abstract (500 words) by March 31, 2025. For
