[staff-physics-and-astronomy-HL-UHD-UD] [VWP-l] Physics and Astronomy bachelor projects

Dear colleagues,

I hope many of you have been able to attract students for an exciting bachelor project.
If you are supervising or will be supervising a BSc research project this year, please note two important changes in the assessment process:

1.A revised detailed assessment rubric has now been implemented (see attached). Please let us know any feedback you may have on the rubric after you completed the assesment of your project so we can further refine the process next year.

2. The weights of the main components contributing to the final grade are now:

- Research work: 60%
- Written thesis: 20%
- Oral presentation: 20%

Note, the weight of the oral presentation increased at the expense the weight of the written thesis because the latter is more sensitive to unauthorized use of AI-powered writing tools.

Each subcomponent within these three categories is graded on a 1-10 scale, and the final grade is calculated automatically in Datanose. All subcomponents within one category carry equal weight.

Please note that students must achieve a passing grade for each of the three main components (research work, thesis, and oral presentation). If a student fails any one of these components, the final result will be recorded as NAV.
