Dear heads of department,

We would like to invite you to nominate candidates for the ERC Starting Grant (StG) Mentoring Programme 2027. The final programme is attached.

This programme is designed to support promising researchers in preparing a competitive ERC Starting Grant application. Selected candidates will be guided through a structured trajectory including workshops, expert feedback, and one-on-one support from grant advisors and ERC-experienced reviewers, covering all key aspects of proposal development (scientific content, narrative, ethics, budget, and interview preparation).

For our faculty, there are 10 places available for nomination. Candidates will be selected based on their CV, research idea, and demonstrated departmental support.

Following the internal selection, nominations will be forwarded to IXA-GO (VU Grants Office), who will assess eligibility and coordinate the further process, including matching candidates to appropriate support. Nominees will be informed mid-April about the outcome.

The internal selection committee consists of the Director of Impact, the Vice Dean for Research, and a Policy Officer.

Required documents for nomination:

     A letter of recommendation from the head of department
   *
     A short motivation by the candidate (max. 1 A4)
   *
     An up-to-date CV
