Hi Martin, all,
Thanks for asking. This concerns the chemicals stored in the labs. These should be registered through Labservant and should be up to date (which ones and how much of each substance). In case of a fire, Paul Goossens team will provide this information to the fire brigade (output from Labservant). Based upon this information, they decide whether to enter a lab (perhaps with some extra measures) or not. Therefore, we should do our best to make sure the data in Labservant is kept up to date.
Hope this clarifies!
Best,
Jordi

Hallo Jordi,
Kun je punt 4 verder toelichten? Ik weet niet wat een "emergency log" is en hoe ik de brandweer daar toegang toe geef.
Alvast dank,
Martin

Dear all,
I want to draw your attention to a few points of attention concerning lab safety. Please note that:
1. The use of earphones, headphones or other devices for listening to music is not permitted in the laboratories. It disrupts alertness in an environment where not only hazardous substances are handled, but also where communication with each other in the event of an emergency is essential. Please make everyone in the lab well aware of this.
2. In case there is noise pollution in the laboratories, appropriate hearing protection that complies with the statutory PPE guidelines must be used.
3. When chemicals are used up or disposed of, they must also be scanned in LabServant. If this is not done, our stock will be incorrect, and we may have a problem with current chemical safety regulation.
4. It is crucial that the fire brigade has, in case of emergency, access to an up-to-date emergency log for each room. This is essential information for deciding whether or not to enter the room. Please check if this is the case.
5. Regulated substances must be reported to the government annually (precursors, strategic goods, etc.). Therefore, the overview in LabServant must be accurate and complete.
Best,
Jordi
