[staff-physics-and-astronomy-HL-UHD-UD] Registering your focus profile

Dear all,

The Recognition & Reward programme at VU Amsterdam has entered a new phase this year. It has been agreed that all academics will discuss their focus on one of the three core areas – research, teaching or impact (profile choice) – during their 2025 annual consultation. VU is doing this based on the conviction that researchers perform best when they can focus on what they excel at and want to develop further. In the attachment, you find more information on this topic as well as links to support with annual conversations and help with defining your focus profile.

Some important remarks:

  *   Managers must indicate the profile of their team members. This means that the section heads (and Juan) need to enter this in Successfactors for each of their team members. In the attachment you will find an instruction on how to do register the focus profiles.
  *   In our department, most people will have a focus on research. Therefore, I propose that the section heads enter this for everyone, unless you explicitly inform them otherwise.
  *   Having a focus profile on your HR page does not change your day-to-day activities. Hence, this has no effect. Still, we must do this.
  *   Also, focus profiles can be changed at any time. If your career focus changes, your line manager can always adjust accordingly.
