The Board of our Faculty of Science is seeking to appoint a Vice-Dean 
for Research. See attached the vacancy text.

The ideal candidate is an experience researcher, proactive, open to 
innovation, and skilled in building networks with both academic and 
support staff. In this role, the Vice-Dean will guide and implement the 
faculty’s research vision and strategy in close collaboration with the 
scientific departments, ensuring that research development strengthens 
the faculty’s scientific, societal, and financial position.

As a member of the Faculty Board, the Vice-Dean for Research works 
closely with the Dean and other board members to shape the faculty’s 
strategic agenda. The Vice-Dean provides functional leadership to 
research policy officers, chairs the faculty’s research committee, and 
represents the faculty in university-level research meetings.

The position requires a senior academic background (associate or full 
professor level), a strong scientific reputation, and experience in 
research acquisition and academic management. Excellent communication, 
leadership, and organizational skills are essential, as is proficiency 
in Dutch and English (both at B2 level).

The appointment is for four years at 0.4 FTE, with possible renewal for 
a second term.
