Please see below the message that has just been circulated among the 
heads of department of the Faculty of Science and that will be posted 
tomorrow on the VU website, announcing the appointment of our colleague 
Prof. dr. Davide Iannuzzi as new New Vice-Dean for Research per 1 Jan 2026.

Within his new role as Vice-Dean for Research, Davide will focus on 
strengthening the faculty’s research profile, promoting inter- and 
transdisciplinary collaboration, and creating an inspiring and 
future-proof research environment for scholars at all career stages.

We are thrilled to welcome back Davide to our faculty and our department 
with this appointment, and look forward to many productive and fruitful 
collaborations in the coming years.

*New Vice-Dean for Research as of 1 January 2026: Davide Iannuzzi*

As of 1 January 2026, the Faculty of Science will welcome a new Vice 
Dean for Research: Prof. dr Davide Iannuzzi. He will further shape the 
Research portfolio in the Faculty Board in a period in which the 
development of a research vision and strategy 2026-2030 and 
collaboration to raise research funding are central to strengthening the 
scientific, societal and financial position of the Faculty.

Davide is currently the VU’s Chief Impact Officer, responsible for 
strengthening the societal, economic and scientific impact of research. 
Within our faculty, he previously served as Director of Valorisation and 
was founder and director of the Demonstrator Lab innovation platform.

Since 2013, Davide has been a Professor in the Department of Physics, 
with a research background in experimental physics.
