Dear all,
I am reaching out to all of you because the IT department has recently started with a new policy concerning software applications. We need to identify which possibly non-compliant applications we are using, in order to get them compliant. If we do not do this, these applications will be closed down.
From now on all software must be purchased/registered through the IT department. This is because IT wants to prevent unauthorised procurement of software within the VU, as this is a cyber security risk and could possibly result in high fines.
As a result, faculties are now checked to see which non-compliant software they are using (compliant being that the contract was arranged through IT). I have attached a list with applications that are being used within the faculty and might be non-compliant. Could you let me know if you are using software that is in the list? For these applications, please also answer the following questions:
* Is there a contract for this application that we entered into ourselves? If so, the IT department would like to have the contract to check for content and legal aspects.
* How many licences are required of this application?
* Are you in possession of invoices for the various applications? To see who the contractor is.
I am aware that the list is long. I hope that you are able to check it and reply to me. Please do so before next week Thursday (November 28). The applications that no one is using (within the faculty), will be closed down shortly after by the It department.
Many thanks!
Jordi
