Dear all,

for those who have missed this message on the VU Web page, please read this article :  The compensation hours of 2023 will expire as of 1 January 2024<https://vu.nl/en/news/2023/the-compensation-hours-of-2023-will-expire-as-of-1-january-2024>

Please note that the HR systems will close early in December ! We advise you to update your data no later than Friday December 8th, to avoid any issues.
VU employees have collective holidays from Monday December 25th until Tuesday January 2nd.  Read everything about holiday leave<https://vu.nl/en/employee/holiday-and-leave/holiday> on VU.nl.

See below for some FAQ :

  *   Check holiday chart  How do I know whether I still have compensation leave hours from 2023 on my holiday chart? This is how you check that:

  1.  Go to the Service Portal<https://vu.service-now.com/esc?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=125deefa1b7ce4105713a64f2e4bcbe8>
  2.  Click on the blue button 'Take action now'
  3.  Click on the blue link 'Show all' at the top right (at the 'Balances' section)
  4.  You will immediately see the simple view of your holiday chart
  5.  First click on 'As of Today' and select the date 31-12-2023
  6.  Then click on the tab 'Account View' to make all holiday leave types separately visible under each other
  7.  See if there is still a credit in the column 'Compensation leave' with the 'Bookable Period: 1 Jan 2023 - 31 Dec 2023'
  8.  If so, that credit will expire on 1 January 2024 if you do not take it before that time
Also take a look at the other holiday leave types: aren't you building up holiday leave reservoirs?

  *   Optional model
The holiday leave hours that are set in the Optional model for terms and conditions of employment<https://vu.nl/en/employee/optional-model/individual-choices-model> are year-specific, and are always automatically deducted from the extra-statutory holiday leave entitlement of the current calendar year. Therefore you cannot use the optional model to use up your remaining credit in compensation hours.
  *   Bicycle for commuting<https://vu.nl/en/employee/optional-model/individual-choices-model>
VU Amsterdam offers employees a one-off tax exchange for the purchase of an electronic or regular bicycle.
>From 1 January 2023, a maximum of 2,000 euros applies (including VAT). Until 31 December 2022, a maximum of 1500 euros applied. The date on the purchase receipt determines the maximum amount that can be fiscally exchanged. Is the purchase receipt from 2022? Then the maximum amount is 1500 euros. Is the purchase receipt from 2023? Then the maximum amount is 2000 euros. The choice for the bicycle may be made no more than once per three calendar years.

You can arrange this target yourself by going to the self-service option Individual choices model<https://vu-amsterdam.huriscloud.com/flex-ben-dashboard>.

  *   Delegation during absence as a manager, budget holders and business controller
As a manager, you can have your HR duties temporarily delegated

  *   For the workflows in SuccessFactors<https://performancemanager.successfactors.eu/sf/home?company=stichtingv&loginMethod=SSO>, click on the tile 'Delegate Workflows'
  *   For the tasks in the Service Portal, please go to your profile<https://vu.service-now.com/esc?id=hri_user_profile> and set up your replacement at 'My Delegates'.
  *   For the approval of declarations, please go to Concur<https://eu2.concursolutions.com/home.asp>. Click the Profile icon at the top right, then click on 'Profile Settings'. In the left menu under 'Request Settings' go to 'Request Delegates'. Click on 'Add' and select a colleague and the desired actions.
And especially for budget holders and business controllers,  arrange the replacement of finance tasks, via the Replacement finance tasks<https://vu.nl/en/employee/finance/replacement-finance-tasks>
