[staff-physics-and-astronomy-HL-UHD-UD] update on evaluation of MSc P&A

Dear staff members,

With this email we would like to update you on the progress of evaluating the Amsterdam MSc Physics & Astronomy study programme.

Attached is a document summarizing, and explaining the thoughts behind, the mission & vision for the MSc Physics & Astronomy that resulted from the work done by the first committee (chair Erwin Peterman, Femius Koenderink, Patrick Decowski, Auke-Pieter Colijn, Noushine Shahidzadeh, and student members Nella Diepeveen and Lisa Lenstra). This document already incorporates further input from a larger volunteer group, as well as feedback from the track coordinators and the various institute management teams.

The next step in the process is for a next committee (consisting of Ralph Wijers, Jan Pieter van der Schaar, Sara Jabbari Farouji, Rick Bethlem, Jorik van de Groep, Joshua Dijksman, Nella Diepeveen, and Lisa Lenstra). They will formulate a strategy for the MSc programme in the coming years, which will make concrete proposals for realising the targets set out in the attached mission and vision statements. After completing their task, a further two committees are envisaged to discuss the practical implementation of suggested changes at the level of learning trajectories and individual courses.

Oscar will be available in the upcoming staff meeting to provide further background information and hear your thoughts.
