Beste allen,

In september 2026 starten weer nieuwe groepen van de Senior Kwalificatie Onderwijs (SKO). Hierbij het verzoek aan jullie om deelname zelf te overwegen of om dit bericht door te sturen aan mogelijke kandidaten en hen zo te informeren over de mogelijkheden.
Opleidingsdirecteuren en opleidingscoördinatoren die nog geen SKO hebben worden aangemoedigd om zelf deel te nemen. Daarnaast ook aanbevolen voor iedereen die een rol heeft in het programma als afstudeerrichting- leerlijn- of minorcoördinator
Hieronder informatie over SKO en over de aanmelding en voordracht van kandidaten.

SKO in het kort
SKO is een belangrijk programma voor verdere professionalisering van ‘trekkers’ binnen opleidingen. Het SKO-programma draait om een curriculumverbetering binnen een opleiding of faculteiten is gericht op hoe je dit procesmatig leidt en hoe je de verbetering theoretisch onderbouwt. Het programma is bedoeld voor verdere ontwikkeling op het gebied van coördinerende en managementtaken binnen het onderwijs, alsook (vak)didactische en onderwijskundige kennis en vaardigheden.
In het najaar starten naast de reguliere eenjarige Nederlandstalige en Engelstalige varianten ook een nieuwe tweejarige variant (SKO-stretch). De intakegesprekken zijn in mei en juni.
Voor kandidaten die al ruime ervaring hebben met het leiding geven aan onderwijsvernieuwing op curriculumniveau bestaat er de mogelijkheid voor een individueel traject.

Aanmelding en voordracht kandidaten
Om aan SKO mee te kunnen doen moeten kandidaten zich op twee plaatsen opgeven.
1. Opgave bij de Onderwijsdirecteur Mareanne Karssen. Dit is nodig omdat bij de BETA-faculteit alleen SKO-kandidaten die via Mareanne zijn voorgedragen in aanmerking komen voor plaatsing. BETA-kandidaten die door afdelingen of opleidingsdirecteuren zelf worden doorgestuurd naar de SKO-commissie worden niet door de SKO-selectiecommissie als formele voordracht gezien.
Kandidaten kunnen tot en met uiterlijk donderdag 19 maart worden doorgegeven aan Pamela de Boer (pamela.de.boer at vu.nl ), zij verzamelt de voordrachten en legt deze voor aan Mareanne. Bij de opgave moet een beknopte beschrijving van het SKO-project worden toegevoegd. Deze schets is maximaal een half A4’tje waarin een beschrijving wordt gegeven van het beoogde doel en welke opleiding(en) het betreft. Belangrijk is dat het project met de betreffende OD is afgestemd en dat deze instemt met het project. Daarom wordt ook gevraagd om de instemming of ondersteuning van de OD mee te sturen bij de opgave.
Na opgave van kandidaten zullen Mareanne Karssen en Pamela de Boer aan de hand van de beschrijvingen een rangorde aanbrengen in de facultaire kandidaten (in verband met beperkte hoeveelheid plaatsen) en de voordracht indienen bij de SKO-toelatingscommissie.
2. Opgave bij de toelatingscommissie SKO. Naast opgave bij de onderwijsdirecteur is het ook nog nodig dat kandidaten zichzelf opgeven bij de SKO-toelatingscommissie. Dat doen zij door uiterlijk vrijdag 27 maart een ingevulde vragenlijst en onderwijs-cv (zie bijlagen bij deze mail) in te leveren via een e-mail aan sko at vu.nl<mailto:sko at vu.nl> .
 NB: Kandidaten zich alleen bij de toelatingscommissie SKO melden zonder aanmelding bij de Onderwijsdirecteur, Mareanne Karssen, kunnen niet worden geplaatst.

Dear all,
New groups of Senior Qualifying Education (STQ, SKO in Dutch) will start again in September 2026. Hereby, the request to you to consider participation yourself or to forward this message to potential candidates and inform them about the possibilities.
Programme Directors and Programme Coordinators who do not yet have STQ are encouraged to participate themselves. Also recommended for anyone who plays a role in the programme such as coordinators of learning pathway, specialisations and minors.
Below is information about SKO and about the application and nomination of candidates.
STQ in brief
STQ is an important program for further professionalization of those who have a pivotal role within programs. The STQ program revolves around a curriculum improvement within a program or faculties focuses on how to lead this process and how to theorize the improvement. The program is intended for further development in the area of coordinating and management tasks within education, as well as (subject) didactic and educational knowledge and skills.
In autumn, a new two-year variant (SKO-stretch) will start in addition to the regular one-year Dutch-language and English-language variants. The intake interviews are in May and June.
For candidates who already have extensive experience in leading educational innovation at curriculum level, there is the possibility of an individual trajectory.

Application and nomination of candidates
To participate in SKO, candidates must apply in two places.
1. Registration with the Director of Education Mareanne Karssen. This is required because at the BETA faculty only SKO candidates nominated through Mareanne are eligible for placement. BETA candidates who are referred by departments or programme directors themselves at the STQ committee are not considered as formal nominations by the STQ-selection committee.
Candidates can be submitted to Pamela de Boer (pamela.de.boer at vu.nl ) until Thursday, March 19, at the latest; she will collect the nominations and submits them to Mareanne. The submission should include a brief description of the SKO project. This outline should be no more than half an A4 describing the intended purpose and what program(s) are involved. It is important that the project has been coordinated with the relevant OD and that the OD agrees to the project. Therefore, it is also requested to send the OD's agreement or support along with the statement.
After listing candidates, Mareanne Karssen and Pamela de Boer will use the descriptions to rank the faculty candidates (due to limited places) and submit the nomination to the SKO admissions committee.
2. Submission to the SKO admissions committee. In addition to registering with the Director of Education, it is also necessary for candidates to register themselves with the SKO admissions committee. They do this by sending a completed questionnaire and teaching CV (see attachments to this mail) no later than Friday, March 27, by e-mail to sko at vu.nl<mailto:sko at vu.nl>
Please note: Candidates who only register with the SKO admissions committee without registering with the Director of Education, Mareanne Karssen, cannot be placed.
