In maart 2026 starten weer nieuwe trainingen van de Senior Kwalificatie Onderwijs (SKO). Hierbij het verzoek aan jullie om kandidaten te benaderen en hen te informeren over de mogelijkheden. Opleidingsdirecteuren en opleidingscoördinatoren die nog geen SKO hebben worden aangemoedigd om zelf deel te nemen.
Hieronder volgt meer informatie over SKO en over de procedures voor de aanmelding en voordracht van kandidaten.

SKO in het kort
SKO is een belangrijk programma voor verdere professionalisering van trekkers binnen opleidingen. Het SKO-programma draait om een curriculumverbetering binnen een opleiding of faculteit en is gericht op hoe je dit procesmatig leidt en hoe je de verbetering theoretisch onderbouwt. Het programma is bedoeld voor verdere ontwikkeling op het gebied van coördinerende en managementtaken binnen het onderwijs, alsook onderwijskundige kennis en vaardigheden.
In het voorjaar starten twee groepen: een Nederlandstalige èn een Engelstalige variant voor VU- en UvA-docenten. De intakegesprekken starten in januari 2026. Meer informatie over het programma staat in de bijlagen van deze mail.
Voor kandidaten die al ruime ervaring hebben met het leiding geven aan onderwijsvernieuwing op curriculumniveau bestaat er ook de mogelijkheid voor een individueel traject. Voor dit traject gelden dezelfde procedures.

Aanmelding en voordracht kandidaten
Om aan SKO mee te kunnen doen moeten kandidaten zich op twee plaatsen opgeven. Allereerst bij de Onderwijsdirecteur van de faculteit, Mareanne Karssen. Daarnaast bij de SKO-toelatingscommissie.
1. Opgave bij de Onderwijsdirecteur Mareanne Karssen. Dit is nodig omdat alleen SKO-kandidaten die via haar zijn voorgedragen bij de SKO-toelatingscommissie in aanmerking komen voor plaatsing. Kandidaten kunnen tot en met uiterlijk donderdag 6 november worden doorgegeven aan Pamela de Boer (pamela.de.boer at vu.nl<mailto:pamela.de.boer at vu.nl> ). Bij de opgave moet een beknopte beschrijving worden toegevoegd van het SKO-project dat de kandidaat in gedachte heeft. Deze schets is maximaal een half A4’tje waarin een beschrijving wordt gegeven van het beoogde doel en welke opleiding(en) het betreft. Belangrijk is dat het project met de betreffende OD is afgestemd en dat deze instemt met het project. Daarom wordt ook gevraagd om de instemming of ondersteuning van de OD mee te sturen bij de opgave.
Na opgave van kandidaten zullen Mareanne Karssen en Pamela de Boer aan de hand van de beschrijvingen een rangorde aanbrengen in de facultaire kandidaten (in verband met beperkte hoeveelheid plaatsen) en de voordracht indienen bij de SKO-toelatingscommissie.
2. Opgave bij de toelatingscommissie SKO. Naast opgave bij de onderwijsdirecteur is het ook nog nodig dat kandidaten zichzelf opgeven bij de SKO-toelatingscommissie. Dat doen zij door uiterlijk maandag 17 november een ingevulde vragenlijst en onderwijs-cv (zie bijlagen bij deze mail) in te leveren via een e-mail aan sko at vu.nl<mailto:sko at vu.nl>
Let op: Soms melden kandidaten zich alleen bij SKO. Omdat ze dan niet op de facultaire ranglijst staan, kunnen ze niet worden geplaatst.

Dear all,
New traininggroups of Senior Teaching Qualification (STQ) will start in March 2026. Herewith the request to you to approach candidates and inform them about the possibilities. Programme Directors and Programme Coordinators who do not yet have STQ are encouraged to participate themselves.
Below you will find more information about STQ and the procedures for registering and nominating candidates.

STQ in brief
STQ is an important program for further professionalization of leaders within programs. The  STQ program revolves around a curriculum improvement within a program or faculties focuses on how to lead this process and how to theorize the improvement. The program is intended for further development in the area of coordinating and management tasks within education, as well as educational knowledge and skills.
Two groups will start in the spring: one in Dutch and one in English for both VU and UvA lecturers. The intake interviews will start in January 2026.

For candidates who already have extensive experience in leading educational innovation at curriculum level, there is the possibility of an individual trajectory. The same procedures apply for this trajectory.

Application and nomination of candidates
To participate in STQ, candidates must apply in two places. First with the Director of Education of the faculty, Mareanne Karssen. Additionally with the STQ admissions committee.
1. Registration with the Director of Education Mareanne Karssen. This is required because only STQ candidates nominated through her to the STQ Admissions Committee are eligible for placement. Candidates can be submitted to Pamela de Boer (pamela.de.boer at vu.nl<mailto:pamela.de.boer at vu.nl> ) until Thursday, November 6, at the latest. The submission should include a brief description of the STQ project the candidate has in mind. This outline should be no more than half an A4 describing the intended purpose and what program(s) are involved. It is important that the project has been coordinated with the relevant OD and that the OD agrees to the project. Therefore, it is also requested to send the OD's agreement or support / assistance along with the statement.
After listing candidates, Mareanne Karssen and Pamela de Boer will use the descriptions to rank the faculty candidates (due to limited places) and submit the nomination to the STQ admissions committee.
2. Submission to the STQ admissions committee. In addition to registering with the Director of Education, it is also necessary for candidates to register themselves with the STQ admissions committee. They do this by sending a completed questionnaire and teaching CV (see attachments to this mail) no later than Monday, November 17, by e-mail to sko at vu.nl.<mailto:sko at vu.nl>
Important note: Sometimes candidates report only to STQ. Because they are not on the faculty rankings, they cannot be placed.
