Beste collega’s,

Bijgevoegd ontvang je een overzicht van de Beta aanmeldingen van alle opleidingen op peildatum 19 juni 2025, inclusief de voorlopige instroomprognoses. Daarbij zijn ook de VU-brede juni notitie met peildatum 6 juni en de laatste update van het International Office bijgevoegd. Bekijk deze voor meer context achter de cijfers en de landelijke ontwikkelingen.

Let op: aanmeldingen zijn nog geen inschrijvingen.

Instroomprognoses
In het bestand zijn de voorlopige instroomprognoses voor 2025 meegenomen. De instroomprognoses zijn gebaseerd op de conversie van aanmeldingen naar voltijd hoofdinschrijvingen van de afgelopen jaren. Het model dat hiervoor wordt gebruikt is ontwikkeld door het VU Education Analytics Team. De conversie is de afgelopen jaren sterk beïnvloed door externe factoren (covid, Brexit, herinvoering studiebeurs) en daardoor momenteel moeilijk te voorspellen.
In dit tabblad zie je informatie voor alle Beta aanmeldingen en de verwachte instroom en het verschil met de instroom van vorig jaar. Ook is er een kolom beschikbaar met alle ontvangen aanmeldingen per opleiding, inclusief teruggetrokken/afgewezen aanmeldingen. De instroomprognoses komen vrij overeen met week 23, behalve bij mBMED. Bij deze opleiding valt de prognose iets hoger (+ 12 studenten) uit.

Opvallende cijfers Bèta

  *   In vergelijking met de laatste update van week 23 is het percentage Bachelor aanmeldingen vrij gelijk. We zien wel dat bBIO en bFAR wat meer aanmeldingen hebben t.o.v. voorafgaande jaren. Verder heeft bBMED 7% meer aanmeldingen t.o.v. vorig jaar.
  *   Voor de masteropleidingen komt het totaal aanmeldingen vrijwel overeen met die van vorig jaar. Een verdere groei blijft zichtbaar bij mBMOL, mMPA en mMAT. Ook laten mSBI en mCompsec een toename qua aanmeldingen zien.
  *   Van de 6960 totaal aanmeldingen zijn er momenteel 549 met de status ‘goedgekeurd’, 2374 met de status ‘Voorwaardelijk geaccepteerd’ en 2108 met de status ‘Portal voltooid’.
  *   Voor de Joint Degrees waarvan de UvA penvoerder is zijn alleen de goedgekeurde aanmeldingen zichtbaar.

Numeri Fixi opleidingen
Bijna alle NF aanmelders hebben hun plaats inmiddels geaccepteerd of afgestaan.
7 studenten met status ‘Plaats verlopen’ hebben na bezwaar opnieuw een ‘Plaats aangeboden’ gekregen.
NB: Geaccepteerde plaatsen kunnen alsnog afvallen voor de start van het jaar.

Vu-brede Juni notitie en Update International Office (IO)
Deze notitie is eerder opgesteld (peildatum 6 juni) dan het Beta overzicht en de afwijzingen voor de initiële masters en premasters zijn in de notitie nog niet verwerkt. In deze notitie is, naast een prognose van de bachelor en masterinstroom op VU-niveau, ook een uitgesplitste prognose op het niveau van faculteit opgenomen.

Hieronder een korte samenvatting van de stand van Beta aanmeldingen en de splitsing NL vs International (IO) (o.b.v. SAP, ongewogen aanmeldingen, exclusief teruggetrokken en afgewezen, peildatum 6 juni 2025, in vergelijking met dezelfde datum in 2024):

  *   Bachelor Beta totaal:

Nu minder B-aanmeldingen (-10%). Afname bij NL vooropleiding (-8%) en bij internationaal (-14%)

  *   Master Beta totaal:

Nu iets meer M aanmeldingen (+1%). Afname bij NL vooropleiding (+2%) en bij internationaal (+0%)

Meer achtergrond over de ontwikkelingen rondom de instroomprognose van internationale aanmeldingen vind je in de bijgevoegde memo “International Office - Application Update June 2025”.
NB: IO rapporteert op complete dossiers (aanmelddocumenten goedgekeurd en €100 application fee betaald). Op basis van historische conversie kan er dan een inschatting gemaakt worden van de instroom in september.

De volgende update van de aanmeldcijfers zal op 3 juli worden gedeeld.

Please find enclosed an overview of Beta applications from all Bachelor and Master programs as of reference date 19th of June, including preliminary enrolment prognoses. Also attached are the VU-wide June memo with reference date 6th of June and the latest update from the International Office. Check these out for more context behind the numbers and national developments.

Enrollment prognoses
The file includes preliminary enrollment prognoses for 2025. The prognoses are based on the conversion of applications to full-time main enrollments in recent years. The model used for this purpose was developed by the VU Education Analytics Team. Conversion in recent years has been heavily influenced by external factors (covid, Brexit, reintroduction of scholarship) and is therefore currently difficult to predict.
In this tab, you will see information for all Beta applications and the expected enrolment and the difference from last year's enrolment. There is also a column available with applications received per program, including withdrawn/rejected applications. The enrollment prognoses are quite similar to week 23, except for mBMED. For this program, the prognose falls slightly higher (+ 12 students).

Beta Notable figures
o Compared to the last update of week 23, the percentage of Bachelor applications is quite the same. We do see that bBIO and bFAR have a bit more applications compared to previous years. Furthermore, bBMED has 7% more applications compared to last year.
o For Master's programs, the total applications is pretty much the same as last year. Further growth continues to be seen in mBMOL, mMPA and mMAT. Also mSBI and mCompsec show an increase in applications.
o Of the 6960 total applications, 549 are currently with the status ‘Goedgekeurd’, 2374 with the status ‘Voorwaardelijk geaccepteerd’ and 2108 with the status ‘Portal voltooid.
o For the Joint Degrees of which the UvA is the penvoerder, only the approved applications are visible.

Numeri Fixi programs
Almost all NF applicants have now accepted or withdrawn their places.
7 students with a ‘Place expired’ status have been reoffered a ‘Place offered’ after objection.
Note: Accepted places may still drop out before the start of the academic year.

Vu-wide June memo and Update International Office (IO)
This memo was prepared earlier (reference date June 6) than the Beta overview and the rejections for the initial masters and premasters have not yet been processed in the note. In addition to a prognose of bachelor and master enrollment at the VU level, this note includes a pinpointed prognose at the faculty level.
Below is a brief summary of the state of Beta applications and the split NL vs International (IO) (based on SAP, unweighted enrollments, excluding withdrawn and rejected, reference date June 6, 2025, compared to the same date in 2024):

  *   Bachelor Beta total:

Currently less B-applications (-10%). Decline NL previous education (-8%) and international (-14%)

  *   Master Beta total:

Currently slightly more M- applications (+1%). Increase NL previous education (+2%) and by international (+0%)

More background on developments around enrolment predictions of international applications can be found in the attached memo " International Office - Application Update June 2025”.
NB: IO reports on complete dossiers (application documents approved and €100 application fee paid). Based on historical conversion, an estimate of September intake can then be made.

The next update of application figures will be distributed on July the 3d
