Beste collega’s,

Bijgevoegd ontvangen jullie een overzicht van de Beta aanmeldingen van alle opleidingen op peildatum 30 juli 2025, inclusief de instroomprognoses per opleiding, de marktaandelen en de VU-brede notitie met een update van International Office (IO).
Let op: aanmeldingen zijn nog geen inschrijvingen.

Instroomprognoses

  *   In het bestand zijn de instroomprognoses voor 2025 meegenomen. De instroomprognoses zijn gebaseerd op de conversie van aanmeldingen naar voltijd hoofdinschrijvingen van de afgelopen jaren. Het model dat hiervoor wordt gebruikt is ontwikkeld door het VU Education Analytics Team. De conversie is de afgelopen jaren sterk beïnvloed door externe factoren (covid, Brexit, herinvoering studiebeurs) en daardoor momenteel moeilijk te voorspellen.

In dit tabblad zie je informatie voor alle Beta aanmeldingen en de verwachte instroom en het verschil met de instroom van vorig jaar. Ook is er een kolom beschikbaar met alle ontvangen aanmeldingen per opleiding, inclusief teruggetrokken/afgewezen aanmeldingen.

  *   De prognoses voor M BA en M MAT betreffen alleen de voltijdstudenten, vandaar dat deze wat lager uitvallen dan de aanmeldcijfers op peildatum aangeven, waarin ook deeltijd aanmeldingen zijn meegenomen.

Aanmeldcijfers Bèta

  *   De toelatingcategorieën worden steeds relevanter om de te verwachten instroom in te schatten.
  *   Bij de bacheloropleiding valt het op dat bGZW nog steeds minder aanmeldingen heeft t.o.v. voorafgaande jaren.
  *   M.b.t. de masteropleidingen zien we nog steeds bij mBMOL, mBA, mMAT, mSBI, mMPA. mBMED en mDDS meer aanmeldingen dan vorig jaar.
  *   Er is bij sommige opleidingen sprake van verschillen in de percentages in het aanmeldrapport t.a.v. van de percentages van de instroomprognose. Het prognosemodel geeft een completer beeld dan enkel de aanmeldcijfers op peildatum.
  *   Van de in totaal 5444 aanmeldingen zijn er momenteel 2000 met de status ‘goedgekeurd’, 1832 met de status ‘Voorwaardelijk geaccepteerd’ en 558 met de status ‘Portal voltooid’.
  *   Voor de Joint Degrees waarvan de UvA penvoerder is zijn alleen de goedgekeurde aanmeldingen zichtbaar.

Numeri Fixi opleidingen

  *   Alle NF aanmelders hebben hun plaats inmiddels geaccepteerd of afgestaan.
  *   De afwijzingen voor NF opleidingen m.b.t. deadline documenten en betaling zijn inmiddels in de aanmeldingen op peildatum zichtbaar. De prognoses zijn hierdoor nu realistischer dan bij de vorige update.
  *   Geaccepteerde plaatsen die nog niet op de status ‘Goedgekeurd’ staan kunnen alsnog afvallen voor de start van het jaar.

VU-brede Juni notitie en Update International Office (IO)
Deze notitie is eerder opgesteld (peildatum 16 juli) dan het Beta overzicht en de afwijzingen voor NF opleidingen m.b.t. deadline documenten en betaling zijn in de notitie nog niet verwerkt.
In deze notitie is, naast een prognose van de bachelor en masterinstroom op VU-niveau, ook een uitgesplitste prognose op het niveau van faculteit opgenomen.

Hieronder een korte samenvatting van de stand van Beta aanmeldingen en de splitsing NL vs International (IO) (o.b.v. SAP, ongewogen aanmeldingen, exclusief teruggetrokken en afgewezen, peildatum 6 juni 2025, in vergelijking met dezelfde datum in 2024):

  *   Bachelor BETA totaal:

Minder B-aanmeldingen (-22%). Afname bij NL vooropleiding (-21%) en bij internationaal (-25%).

Bij Artificial Intelligence en Farmaceutische Wetenschappen is de tijdlijn rondom afwijzen iets veranderd, waardoor de afname in werkelijkheid mogelijk minder groot zal zijn.

  *   Masters BETA totaal:

Iets meer M-aanmeldingen (+8%). Afname bij NL vooropleiding (+6%) en bij internationaal (+12%).

  *   Premasters BETA totaal:

Meer P-aanmeldingen (+16%). Toename bij NL vooropleiding (+18%) en bij internationaal (+6%)

De volgende update van de aanmeldcijfers met prognoses zal op 7 augustus worden gedeeld. Vanaf augustus delen we wekelijks de aanmeldcijfers met de voorlopige instroomprognoses.

Please find enclosed an overview of Beta applications from all Bachelor and Master programs as of reference date 30th of July, including preliminary enrolment prognoses, market shares and the VU-wide memo and an update from the International Office (IO).

Enrollment prognoses

  *   The file includes preliminary enrollment prognoses for 2025. The prognoses are based on the conversion of applications to full-time main enrollments in recent years. The model used for this purpose was developed by the VU Education Analytics Team. Conversion in recent years has been heavily influenced by external factors (covid, Brexit, reintroduction of scholarship) and is therefore currently difficult to predict.
  *   The prognoses for M BA and M MAT only concern full-time students, which is why they are somewhat lower than the enrolment figures indicate on the reference date, as these also include prospective part-time student.

Beta Application numbers

  *   Admission categories are becoming increasingly relevant for estimating expected enrolment numbers.
  *   In the bachelor's programme, it is noteworthy that bGZW still has fewer applications than in previous years.
  *   Regarding the master's programmes, we are still seeing more applications than last year for mBMOL, mBA, mMAT, mSBI, mMPA, mBMED and mDDS.
  *   For some programmes, there are differences between the percentages in the application report and the percentages in the enrolment forecast. The forecast model provides a more complete picture than just the application figures on the reference date.Of the total 5444 remaining applications, there are currently 2000 with the status ‘Approved’, 1832 with the status ‘Conditionally Accepted’ and 558 with the status ‘Portal Completed’.
  *   For the Joint Degrees of which the UvA is the main sponsor, only the approved applications are visible.

Numeri Fixi programs

  *   All NF applicants have now accepted or withdrawn their places.
  *   Rejections for NF programmes relating to document deadlines and payment are now accounted for in the applications on the reference date. This makes the current prognoses for the NF programmes more reliable than the previous update.
  *   Accepted places that do not yet have the status “Approved” can still be withdrawn before the start of the academic year.

VU memo June and update IO
This memo was drafted earlier (reference date 16 July) than the Beta overview, and the rejections for NF programmes regarding document deadlines and payment have not yet been incorporated into the memo.
In addition to a forecast of bachelor's and master's enrolment at VU level, this memo also includes a breakdown of the forecast at faculty level.
Below is a brief summary of the status of Beta applications and the breakdown between NL and International (IO) (based on SAP, unweighted applications, excluding withdrawn and rejected applications, reference date 6 June 2025, compared to the same date in 2024):

  *   Bachelor BETA total:
Fewer B applications (-22%). Decrease in NL prior education (-21%) and international (-25%).
For AI and FAR, the rejection timeline has changed slightly, which means that the decrease may actually be less significant.
  *   Masters BETA total:
Slightly more M applications (+8%). Decrease in NL prior education (+6%) and international (+12%).
  *   Premasters BETA total:
More P applications (+16%). Increase in NL prior education (+18%) and international (+6%)

The next update of enrolment figures with forecasts will be shared on 7 August. From August onwards, we will share the enrolment figures with the provisional intake forecasts on a weekly basis.
