The group of Odile Viltart focuses on eating disorders, with a particular interest in Anorexia Nervosa (AN). Through a translational research approach combining animal models of chronic food restriction with studies in patients diagnosed with AN, she aims to better understand the complex mechanisms underlying the disorder. By integrating behavioural, physiological, and clinical measures, her work investigates potential biomarkers associated with the progression and severity of AN. In this seminar, she will explore the relationship between physical activity and anxiety in anorexia nervosa, with particular insights from animal models. Be sure to attend this seminar to learn more about the fascinating interaction between physical activity, anxiety, and eating disorders!

WORKSHOP | Animal models in Anorexia Nervosa | 14h-15:30h | Rudolf Magnus Room (Stratenum 5th floor)
In this workshop, we will explore the different animal models currently used to investigate anorexia nervosa (AN) and discuss how these models can contribute to our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of the disorder. The workshop will provide an opportunity to learn more about the advantages, challenges, and applications of different experimental approaches, as well as to exchange ideas and experiences.
Participants will also have the opportunity to briefly present their own animal model or research approach and receive feedback from the group. We encourage an open discussion and invite participants to ask questions, share their experiences, and discuss potential opportunities and challenges related to the use of animal models in AN research. Whether you are already working with animal models or are simply interested in learning more about their use in eating disorder research, everyone is welcome to participate.
As this workshop focuses on the use of animal models, participants will receive a certificate that can be used for the IvD Lifelong Learning program.
