Dear CHERN affiliates,

This year we are again organising a section at the EISA Pan-European Conference in Bologna, to be held in Lisbon, 1-4 September 2026. The section is called “: Contested Elite Strategies in a Fracturing World Order” and might be of interest to some of you: https://eisa-net.org/pec-2026/
(we are section 26 of the programme).

The aim of our section is to investigate how inter- and intra-state tensions, social forces, and corporate rivalries have driven the resurgence of geoeconomic competition. We are particularly interested in perspectives and analyses that highlight the role and competing strategies of political and economic elites, i.e. the conflicts, contestations, and alliances through which they navigate these uncertainties and shape the direction of the global political economy.

We hope to see some of you in Lisbon next summer!

Best wishes,

Nana de Graaff, Jasa, Veselinovic, Imogen Liu, and Bastiaan van Apeldoorn
