<p class="xmsonormal"><span lang="en-NL" style="font-size:11.0pt">We are excited to start a reading seminar in September at the VU Amsterdam to study the group of diffeomorphisms of manifolds. Our main goal is to see that this group is simple (that is, it cannot
be decomposed further) and that it can be used to reconstruct the manifold.</span><span lang="en-NL"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

mainly use the self-contained book “The structure of classical diffeomorphism groups” by Augustin Banyaga.</span><span lang="en-NL"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
