Subject: Talk by Leonardo Masci 12-11 in NU2B18

Dear all,

Coming Tuesday Leonardo Masci will speak on a topic on the interface of dynamics and topology (which is why I sent this to both email lists).

NOTE THE UNUSUAL LOCATION.

For the homotopically inclined, this Friday there is also a factorization homology talk:

Please see more info below.

Best,
Thomas

AG 11:00: 12-11-2024 in NU2B18: Leonardo Masci<https://www.mathga.rwth-aachen.de/en/~masci>: A Poincare-Birkhoff Theorem for Asymptotically Linear Hamiltonian Diffeomorphisms
The celebrated Poincare-Birkhoff theorem on area-preserving maps of the annulus is of fundamental importance in the fields of Hamiltonian dynamics and symplectic topology. In this talk I will formulate a twist condition, inspired by the Poincare-Birkhoff theorem, which applies to the asymptotically linear Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms of Amann, Conley and Zehnder. When this twist condition is satisfied, together with some technical assumptions, the existence of infinitely many periodic points is obtained.

This is a reminder about the fourth session of the Factorization Homology Seminar: since there were no volunteers, you will have to suffer while Alba explains how to set up the language of differential topology within the context of higher categories (aka sheaves on manifolds and Weiss sheaves). This will happen next Friday November 8 at 3pm in Utrecht, in room KBG228.
The plan for the Fridays after that is (if you don't want Alba speaking again, please volunteer!):

  * Factorisation homology, factorisation algebras and their properties.
  * Examples of factorisation homology (Guy).
  *   Non-abelian Poincaré duality.
  * Factorisation homology and Goodwillie Calculus (Niall).
As usual, more information about the seminar, as well as notes from past talks, can be found in https://sites.google.com/view/miguelbarata/seminars, and all questions, suggestions and comments can be sent to us via email (a.sendon.blanco at vu.nl<mailto:a.sendon.blanco at vu.nl>, m.lourencohenriquesbarata at uu.nl<mailto:m.lourencohenriquesbarata at uu.nl>).
