In anticipation to the upcoming round of annual appraisal conversations, we are collecting information on (selected) quantitative estimators of research and teaching performance. This data collection has a two-fold motivation: first, to cross-check the numbers
we receive from other sources and that are used to define our annual budget, and second, to provide a benchmark with the targets listed in our "Function Profile Description and Career Track Vision" document.<br>
<br>
We emphasize that these quantitative inputs are not the only inputs that should be discussed in the annual appraisal conversations, where the whole palette of activities covered in the same document (both qualitative and quantitative) will be considered.<br>
<br>
I will collect all the forms and use it to produce an overview of the performance of our department for those activities that, according to the VU allocation model, result in income being allocated to our department.<br>
<br>
Again, we collect data only on a subset of activities in which PIs are involved, not because we don't value other activities (on the contrary), but due to their relevance for our financial future. Indeed, this way we can produce (more) reliable forecasts for
the future income of the department. Since the faculty, and thereby we as a department, are in a very tight financial situation, we need a reliable forecast for the upcoming years. The measures we must take, in order to comply with the VU-wide austerity measures,
greatly depend on these projections.<br>
