[staff-physics-and-astronomy-HL-UHD-UD] Summer internships (July) – availability to host a student?

Dear all,

We are writing to ask whether you or someone in your section (e.g. a postdoc or PhD candidate) might be available to supervise a one-month bachelor or master internship in July 2026, in the context of the Summer Internship for Under-represented Students.

At this stage, we are only collecting expressions of interest: no project description is needed yet. Any reasonable research project would be suitable, and supervision can be relatively light. If you already have a student in mind who might fit the call, this could also be a good opportunity.

The internship is organised by the DEI Councils of the Physics and Astronomy Department at the VU and of the Institute of Physics at the UvA. Each internship is funded with a €1,500 allowance for one month. In total, 12 students will be awarded across VU and UvA, and we would of course be very happy to see strong participation from the VU.

If you think this might be possible on your end, we’d be very grateful if you could just reply to this email with a short “yes”.
