Dear Researchers and Research Managers,

Many of you have previously expressed interest in the ERC, so I am writing to inform you of new eligibility requirements <https://erc.europa.eu/news-events/news/applying-erc-grant-2027-competitions-what-you-need-know> announced today for the 2027 calls.

Due to the high number of applications, stricter resubmission restrictions will apply:

   * Applicants to StG, CoG, or AdG who have received a *C score at Step 1*may not apply to any main grant call again for the *next three call years*.
   * Applicants who have received a *B score at Step 1* may not apply again for the *next two call years*.

As a result, you are *not eligible to *apply to StG, CoG, or AdG 2027 if you received:

   * a *C score at Step 1* in *2024, 2025 or 2026*, or
   * a *B score at Step 1* in *2025 or 2026*.

In addition, *AdG 2026 applicants cannot apply to the Synergy Grant 2027 call*, regardless of the outcome.

On a positive note, the ERC has confirmed the *extended eligibility windows of StG and CoG* (reference date: *1 January 2027*):

   * *Starting Grant:* 0–10 years after PhD defense
   * *Consolidator Grant:* 5–15 years after PhD defense

These rules are confirmed for 2027 and will likely apply to future calls, so please keep them in mind when planning your ERC submission strategy.
