Dear colleagues,

We are very happy to share thew news that the Department of Physics and
Astronomy has now its own PhD Council.

The role of the PhD Council is to serve as representatives of all PhD
candidates in the department and to work together with the Management
Team and other stakeholders to support each other in our common goal of
carrying out excellent, impactful research in a productive, safe, and
nurturing environment.

The current composition of this council is:

- Mohammad Hossein Afsharian
- Bram Hoogland
- Sarah Lander
- André Lohde
- Gal Ross
- Kimiya Setayeshmehr

For the PhD candidates: should you be keen in contributing in any way to
the activities of the PhD Council, or have ideas/suggestions about
topics that need to be discussed, do not hesitate to reach to one of
their members.

The PhD Council will meet regularly with the MT and with the Graduate
School coordinator to discuss topics of common interest, from PhD
policies and common roadblocks in the PhD trajectory to courses and
trainings and to facilitating onboarding. The Council will also organise
social events and team building activities - stay tuned for the first one.

Should you have any question, feel free to reach out. And many thanks to
Mohammad, Bram, Sarah, André, Gal, and Kimiya for their availability to
help the department in this important role.

Best,

Juan
