Dear PIs and PhD students,
I want to reach out to you about an effort within our program to make our P&A bachelor students
feel more at home at the VU and to learn more about the exciting research that is going on in our department.
It’s a great opportunity to get to know some of our students and to make our department more visible in the program.
Specifically, we our looking for PhD students who would be up to give a short informal talk for our bachelor students at a weekly event called “Quarks and Sparks”.
More information is below . Please reach out to Quinten to sign up.
----
Dear PhD candidate,
Quarks and Sparks is a new event in which bachelor students in Physics and Astronomy are able to get into contact with master students and/or PhD candidates from different research groups. We would like to invite one PhD candidate or master student to give a short presentation (15 minutes) during the lunch break on Wednesdays in the period from the 4th of February until the 18th of March. These meeting will be held in Spectrum 2 in the VO building. The talk will be for a group of around 20 physics bachelor students. In your talk you could focus on your experience with your research group and/or a bit about your current work as a PhD or master student. After your presentation there will be room (about 15 minutes) for the bachelor students to ask questions. Lunch and drinks will be provided.
We would like to host one session a week, depending on the enthusiasm of the bachelor students. The first session will be Wednesday 4 February at 12:50. (If you are available and able to join for another session on Wednesdays during this period, that would also be great!)
If you are interested or if you have any questions, please contact Quinten via q.c.coelho at uva.nl<mailto:q.c.coelho at uva.nl> (cc) or q.c.coelho at student.vu.nl<mailto:q.c.coelho at student.vu.nl> (cc).
Best,
Chase
