Dear PIs,

The deadline to enter survey data for 2023 into Pure is by 1st Feb. 2024. (Click here; VU website<https://vu.nl/nl/medewerker/research-data-support/vu-research-portal-pure>)

The data is crucial for various reports, including the VU Annual Report, UNL annual report research figures, international rankings, and internal research policies. The details are below;

Dear Colleagues,

The time to collect and enter the survey data (deployment and output) for the year 2023 into Pure is once again upon us. Please enter the research data by 1st Feb., 2024 and check for completeness and accuracy. Output data are used for the VU Annual Report, annual report research figures of the Universities of the Netherlands (UNL), international rankings, faculty and/or iOZI reports, and for the development of internal research policy. Deployment figures are used for research reviews (according to SEP) and faculty and/or institute reports.

Penecuting faculties of interdisciplinary research institutes (iOZIs) are also ultimately responsible for linking in Pure all deployment and output data to the relevant iOZI with the help of the other faculties participating in the institute. For this purpose, tenured faculties contact Pure administrators of faculties that are also affiliated with the relevant iOZI in a timely manner and agree with them on how involved staff and relevant output of their own faculty should be linked to the institute.A different deadline applies to the registration of iOZI research data in Pure: May 1, 2024.

To obtain correct information about the scientific research, it is necessary that the data be entered correctly. Please refer to the manuals prepared by the UBVU for this purpose. These can be found via the VU website<https://vu.nl/nl/medewerker/research-data-support/vu-research-portal-pure> and the UBVU LibGuides<https://libguides.vu.nl/pure-managing-publications/start>. For questions about and requests for manuals, please contact the UBVU: pure.ub at vu.nl<mailto:pure.ub at vu.nl>. Manuals are also available in the database itself.

A week before March 1, UBVU will generate an overview of the status of deployment and output data by faculty. After this there is another week to complete and check/validate data in Pure. The UBVU (pure.ub at vu.nl<mailto:pure.ub at vu.nl>) will then receive notification from you when input and validation is complete. After the deadline for entering research data into Pure has passed, the UBVU will generate a summary of deployment and output data by faculty in early March. This information will then - after a final round of checks with the faculties - be used.

Finally, we would like to draw your attention to the following. Every year, many publications are still entered after the deadline and therefore cannot be included in the annual report. Let us strive to have the input and validation in order before the deadline. Given the efforts of the UBVU and the faculty Pure Administrators, we are confident that the data entry for 2023 will go smoothly. Geachte collega's,

De tijd om de onderzoeksgegevens (inzet en output) over het jaar 2023 te verzamelen en in te voeren in Pure is weer aangebroken. Graag vragen wij u de onderzoeksgegevens vóór 1 maart 2024 in te voeren en te controleren op volledigheid en juistheid. Gegevens over de output worden gebruikt voor het Jaarverslag VU, jaarrapportage onderzoekcijfers van de Universiteiten van Nederland (UNL), internationale rankings, facultaire en/of iOZI-rapportages, en voor de ontwikkeling van het interne onderzoeksbeleid. De inzetcijfers worden gebruikt voor de onderzoeksvisitaties (volgens SEP) en facultaire en/of instituutsrapportages.

Penvoerende faculteiten van interdisciplinaire onderzoeksinstituten (iOZI's) zijn tevens eindverantwoordelijk voor de koppeling in Pure van alle inzet- en outputgegevens aan het betreffende iOZI met behulp van de andere faculteiten die in het instituut participeren. Penvoerende faculteiten nemen hiervoor tijdig contact op met Purebeheerders van faculteiten die ook bij het betreffende iOZI zijn aangesloten en stemmen met hen af hoe betrokken medewerkers en relevante output van de eigen faculteit aan het instituut gekoppeld dienen te worden. Voor de registratie van iOZI-onderzoeksgegevens in Pure geldt een andere deadline: 1 mei 2024.

Voor het verkrijgen van correcte informatie over het wetenschappelijk onderzoek is het noodzakelijk dat de gegevens op de juiste manier worden ingevoerd. Graag verwijzen wij naar de handleidingen die daartoe door de UBVU zijn opgesteld. Deze zijn te vinden via de VU website<https://vu.nl/nl/medewerker/research-data-support/vu-research-portal-pure> en de LibGuides<https://libguides.vu.nl/pure-managing-publications/start> van de UBVU. Voor vragen over en opvraag van handleidingen kan desgewenst contact worden opgenomen met de UBVU: pure.ub at vu.nl<mailto:pure.ub at vu.nl>. Tevens zijn in de database zelf handleidingen beschikbaar.

Een week voor 1 maart zal de UBVU een overzicht genereren met de stand van zaken van de inzet- en outputgegevens per faculteit. Hierna is er nog een week om gegevens in Pure aan te vullen en te controleren/valideren. De UBVU (pure.ub at vu.nl<mailto:pure.ub at vu.nl>) ontvangt vervolgens van u bericht als de invoer en validatie is afgerond. Na het verstrijken van de deadline voor invoer van onderzoeksgegevens in Pure, zal de UBVU begin maart een overzicht genereren van de inzet- en outputgegevens per faculteit. Deze informatie gaat dan - na een laatste controleronde met de faculteiten - worden gebruikt.

Tot slot vragen we graag uw aandacht voor het volgende. Jaarlijks worden na de deadline nog veel publicaties ingevoerd die hierdoor niet in het jaarverslag kunnen worden meegenomen. Laten we ernaar streven de invoer én validatie vóór de deadline op orde te hebben. Gezien de inspanningen van de UBVU en de facultaire Purebeheerders, hebben wij er alle vertrouwen in dat de invoer van gegevens over 2023 goed zal verlopen.
