Dear colleagues,
Many research groups in our department (including ARCNL and Nikhef) have ongoing activities which can be broadly classified as "AI and modelling", including machine learning, numerical simulations, high-performance computing, model inference, applied statistics and so on. The approaches are often instrumental to relate theory and experiment.
With this in mind, we are organizing a mini-workshop for all departmental PIs (and their PhD students/PDs) interested in "AI and modelling in Physics", broadly understood. The idea would be to organize an away-day where participants can present the problems and methods used in their research, with plenty of time for informal discussions and "speed dating" to explore possible synergies can arise between the various groups.
If there is enough interest, we could turn this initiative into a regular event in the scientific life of the department.
When? Wednesday March 13
Where? TBA: Off-campus

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
