Subject: Open Science events in September and October
Dear graduate schools and PhD coordinators,
The University Library is organising a Data Conversations meeting with lunch on 5 October on the topic of Decentralized Science. Starting 21 September, we will also have four unique Art Sceince Dialogues where topics of open knowledge creation will be discussed from both science and art perspectives.
The meetings are open to all researchers at VU and Amsterdam UMC, as well as colleagues who support research and everyone interested in the topic. More information is below. We would appreciate it greatly if you could spread the word in your network.
Data Conversations: Decentralized Science (DeSci)
Join us on 5 October 12:00 at 3D (W&N building) to talk about Decentralized Science, a new way of sharing scientific research that fixes problems like outdated ways of publishing and lack of replicability. Our speaker is Philipp Koellinger<http://philipp-koellinger.com/>, co-founder of DeSci Labs<https://desci.com/>. There will be lunch and networking time.

Art Science Dialogues: Creating the Commons<https://www.artsciencegallery.nl/exhibition/creating-the-commons/>
Under the generic term Open Science the academic community is aiming for greater transparency and broader accessibility. In the arts, too, artists are increasingly producing community based art. Ideals such as equality, collective interest and sustainability are central to these developments.
During the Art Science Dialogues the various dilemmas of co-creation will be addressed, including authorship, inclusion, accessibility and control. Join us at VU Art Science gallery or online!
