Dear all,

Again I would like to ask you to think about the investments you want to make next year. I want to draw your attention especially to investments related to the move. If you plan to make investments over 25K that are move-related, please indicate this specifically in the overview. Since these costs will most likely be paid for by first money stream funds, we definitely need to be on the list. Again, there is no guarantee that the investments will be approved when we add them to our overview, but not being on the list makes it almost impossible to make these investments (when it concerns first money stream funds).

Dear all,

I would like to draw your attention to the following: investments in 2024.

As a department, we are asked to think about the investments we are going to make next year and submit an overview to business control. Investments in this case mean investments over 25K euros. If you already know what investments you want to make next year, please include them in the attached file and return it to me. Please do so by Friday 2 June at the latest.

Investment that are not included in this overview will be much more difficult to get approved by the investment committee next year. Of course, investments we do not know of at this point can still be approved, but being in this overview helps a lot. On the other hand, it is not a guarantee that the investment will be approved next year. It only helps your case a lot! I understand this may seem odd, especially for investments made from grants. However, this is the way the university works and I would like to, as a department, contribute as much as possible to the forecast of investments next year.

If you have investments coming up in 2024, what should you do? --> Fill in columns C to K in the attached file. Green columns are mandatory, yellow columns optional. The columns are:

  *   C (optional): is the investment made from a specified first money stream budget such as sectorplannen or starters- en stimuleringsbeurzen (or other specified budgets) please name the budget in column C.
  *   D: a description of the investment
  *   E: the money stream it will be paid from (1, 2 or 3)
  *   F: the expected life of the investment (how many years are needed to amortize it?). If you are not sure about the answer to this question, please look at the tab 'Activaklassen' (this page is in Dutch, please reach out if you need help defining the class of the investment). I think most common will be investments in the classes of 'Meet- en regelapparatuur' (measurement and control equipment) which have an expected life of 7 years, IT hardware with an expected life of 5 years or software, also with an expected life of 5 years.
  *   G: the cost of the investment (in total, not the amortization per year). If you do not know exactly, please make an estimate and say so in column H
  *   H (optional): any extra information you would like to provide

Some closing remarks:

  1.  Please include any investments related to the move as well (again, if you already know). These will be paid from the first money stream.
  2.  This concerns investments made via the VU only. Investments made via Nikhef or ARCNL do not need to be included.

In the Excel file, there is some information on last year's investment. This may be of help.
