I am sorry for this last minute request, but could you please check whether you have any additions ?  Due date is tomorrow July 21st.

From the UB, we have received a list (below) of non-profit and scholarly-led (so-called Diamond Open Access) publishing initiatives that will receive support from the Open Science programme.
The question is whether any initiatives relevant to BETA are missing. Should this be the case, I ask you to communicate this no later than next Wednesday, 19 July, via beta.onderzoek at vu.nl<mailto:beta.onderzoek at vu.nl> with a brief explanation.

One specific question : if anyone can inform them  on the exact name or a reference to the pre-print for Physics Archives, please send that information to beta.onderzoek at vu.nl<mailto:beta.onderzoek at vu.nl>.

Vanuit de UB hebben een lijst (hieronder) met non-profit en scholarly-led (zogenaamde Diamond Open Access) publicatie-initiatieven ontvangen die steun zullen krijgen vanuit de Open Science-programma. De vraag is of er nog initiatieven ontbreken die relevant zijn voor BETA. Mocht dat het geval zijn, dan vraag ik jullie dat uiterlijk a.s. woensdag 19 juli door te geven via beta.onderzoek at vu.nl<mailto:beta.onderzoek at vu.nl> met een korte toelichting.

Het VUO heeft voor 2023 middelen beschikbaar gesteld aan het Open Science-programma voor het steunen van non-profit en scholarly-led (diamond Open Access) publicatie-initiatieven als alternatief voor de steeds duurdere en niet-inclusieve commerciële uitgevers. Onze Open Access-experts hebben een lijst opgesteld met te steunen initiatieven. Graag ontvangen wij voor 21 juli aanvullingen op deze lijst vanuit de faculteiten.

Waarom bestaat dit Open Access Innovatiefonds?

  1.  De VU heeft zich gecommitteerd aan het faciliteren van inclusievere, duurzame en kostenefficiënte Open Access opties waarbij onderzoekers niet hoeven te betalen om te publiceren.
  2.  De zichtbaarheid van open initiatieven en onze steun hieraan moet vergroot worden.
  3.  Om onderzoekers te attenderen op publicatie-alternatieven.
Wat vragen we van jullie?
Graag horen we of jullie nog initiatieven missen op de lijst die relevant zijn voor de vakgebieden van Bèta.
Graag ontvangen we suggesties voor initiatieven met korte toelichting voor 21 juli.

Welke criteria gelden er om in aanmerking te komen voor steun?
Initiatieven die in aanmerking komen voor steun uit de centrale beleidsmiddelen zijn:

  *   (Diamond) publicatieplatforms (zowel voor preprints, artikelen, boeken etc.)
  *   Open infrastructuur (diensten die open publiceren ondersteunen, bijvoorbeeld op het gebied van indexering, archivering en kwaliteit)
  *   Non-commercieel (of anders eerlijk en transparant in financieringsmodel)
  *   Scholarly-led (of anders direct gestoeld op inbreng vanuit de academische gemeenschap)

Mochten er vragen of onduidelijkheden zijn over het (diamond) innovatiefonds of de criteria, dan hoor ik het graag.

The VUO has made funds available to the Open Science programme for 2023 to support non-profit and scholarly-led (diamond Open Access) publishing initiatives as an alternative to increasingly expensive and non-inclusive commercial publishers. Our Open Access experts have compiled a list of initiatives to be supported. We would like to receive additions to this list from faculties by 21 July.

Why does this Open Access Innovation Fund exist?
1.           VU is committed to facilitating more inclusive, sustainable and cost-effective Open Access options where researchers do not have to pay to publish.
2.           To increase the visibility of open initiatives and our support for them.
3.           To alert researchers to publication alternatives.
What do we ask of you?
Please let us know if you miss any initiatives on the list that are relevant to the fields of science.
We would like to receive suggestions for initiatives with a brief explanation before 21 July.

What are the eligibility criteria?  Initiatives eligible for support from central policy funds are:

  1.  (Diamond) publishing platforms (both for preprints, articles, books, etc.)
  2.  Open infrastructure (services that support open publishing, e.g. indexing, archiving and quality)
  3.  Non-commercial (or else fair and transparent in funding model)
  4.  Scholarly-led (or else directly based on input from the academic community)
