Great initiative! Very interested to see the outcome: it could become a fantastic showcase for other departments.

Best,
Davide.

Subject: [Senior-staff-physics-and-astronomy] Recording of outreach videos for new website

Dear colleagues,

As discussed in one of the previous staff meetings, in the context of the "new website" project we are going to record a series of outreach videos showcasing the amazing research that we do in our department, and in the process kick-starting our departmental YouTube channel which eventually will be be embedded into the new website.

The recording and production process will start on early March. The idea is to produce 1 min personal videos for each staff member, plus a longer video (5 min) about each of the sections. In the process, we will also generate a lot of extra footage that can be reused for many other applications, as well as a large number of high-quality pictures.

To make this exciting plan a reality, we ask for your commitment and your collaboration with the team (Sander van Iersel and Tim Visser) in charge of the project. What they need from each of us is:

- A 1 h slot for a pre-interview to get familiar with each PI and plan the recordings. This can take place via Zoom

- A 3 h slot (max) for the actual recording. The idea is that this happens in our labs or wherever our research takes place (say could be the laserlab, Nikhef, etc). Ideally the slots of the PIs of each section should be clustered together, since many material will be related. The videos can of course also involve PhDs and postdocs e.g. working in our labs.

In the next weeks, our secretariat team will get in touch to schedule the pre-interview and the recording slots. The goal is to get all the recording done before the summer break, so that after production the videos and related material are ready to go by September or October. So we hope to get all the planning done before the actual recording takes place.

Each section has a contact person to coordinate these efforts. They can take the lead in case e.g. that you'd like to brainstorm about the best setting for the recordings.

If anything is unclear, do not hesitate to get in touch. Let's make this happen!

Best,
Juan
