Each year, the ‘Innovatie Centra Academisch Bètaonderwijs (ICAB) Conference’ takes place, organized by one of the Faculties of Sciences in the Netherlands. This year, Maastricht University will host the ICAB 2025.

We are happy to invite you to the 2025 Innovatie Centra Academisch Bètaonderwijs (ICAB) Conference, focusing on a crucial topic: student engagement in STEM education.

Taking place on 13-14 March 2025, this year’s conference will be hosted by Maastricht University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering at the Discovery Museum in Kerkrade (conveniently located next to the train station).

The conference will explore diverse strategies for fostering student engagement, ranging from interactive teaching approaches like Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to the international classroom, and integrating students into research and educational development. The theme of the conference extends broadly to encompass innovative methods that enrich STEM education and encourage STEM careers.

Highlights of the conference include:
·         Plenary lecture by Gideon Koekoek: "Stretched mattresses and tiny solar systems? Communicating scientific discoveries by reconnecting dots."
·         Immersive experiences in the Discovery Museum, offering a unique environment to inspire and innovate.
·         Insights into cutting-edge integrations of research and education, as shown in the Einstein Telescope Education Centre (ETEC).
·         Closing session: "How to Get a Brilliant Idea in 3 Steps".
