Beste collega’s,

Bijgevoegd ontvangen jullie een laatste overzicht van de Beta aanmeldingen van alle opleidingen op peildatum 28 augustus 2024, inclusief herziene instroomprognoses per opleiding en de planning betreffend de stand van instroom en inschrijvingen.
Instroomprognoses
Het prognosemodel is door het Education Analytics team bijgewerkt, om ook de conversie van aanmeldingen naar inschrijvingen beter te voorspellen. Hierin worden factoren meegenomen zoals vooropleiding, datum van aanmelding, hoeveel andere aanmeldingen de student heeft binnen de VU, historische conversies van de opleiding, etc. Door de voorspelde kansen bij elkaar op te tellen wordt de verwachte instroom bepaald. Grote veranderingen in conversies over de jaren waren lastig te voorspellen, maar bij de meeste opleidingen zag dit model veranderingen wel goed aankomen.

Aanmeldcijfers Bèta

  *   Zodra een student aan alle inschrijfvoorwaarden voldoet, verandert de status in 'goedgekeurd' en is de student ingeschreven.
Het aantal goedgekeurde aanmeldingen op deze peildatum is voor de bèta bachelors 5% lager dan in 2023. Voor de masters is dit aantal 7% hoger. In het tabblad ‘Instroomprognoses obv week 35’ staat het verschil per opleiding. De totale goedgekeurde aanmeldingen voor 2024 komen erg overeen met de cijfers van 2023.
  *   De overige toelatingscategorieën zijn terug te vinden in het tabblad ‘Herkomst & Toelatingscat.’.
Hier is per categorie een opmerking toegevoegd, waarin de conversie tot inschrijvingen van de afgelopen jaren wordt toegelicht, op basis van deze peildatum.
Voor een aantal opleidingen geeft dit een beeld dat wat afwijkt van de instroomprognose:
     *   Voor mAI, mBMED, mERM, mHS en mMPA geven de aantallen per toelatingscategorie een wat hogere verwachting dan de instroomprognose.
  *   Voor de joint degrees waarvan de UvA penvoerder is zijn de aanmeldingen op deze peildatum in 2023 incorrect. Door een error vorig jaar werden hier ook herinschrijvingen meegeteld. Voor 2024 gaat dit wel goed.
Als gevolg zijn de verschillen in aanmeldingen t.o.v. vorig jaar hier niet beschikbaar. Wel is de uiteindelijke instroom in 2023 van deze opleidingen vermeld.
  *   De Numerus Fixus aantallen blijven nu stabiel.


International Office update
In vergelijking met de update van vorige week blijft de verwachting omtrent internationale inschrijvingen bij Beta vrijwel gelijk.

Planning instroom en inschrijvingen cijfers
Tijdens de eerste onderwijsweek worden de laatste toelatingen en afwijzingen bij SSA nog verwerkt. In de week van 9 september stuurt Onderwijsdata een update van alle inschrijvingen per Bèta opleiding, waarin zowel de nieuwe instroom als de totalen van alle actieve studenten worden genoemd. Waar van toepassing worden ook de aantallen per specialisatie hierbij vermeld. Een vervolgupdate zal in de week van 23 september worden verspreid.

Please find enclosed an overview of Beta applications from all programs as of reference date August 28st, 2024, including revised enrollment prognoses and the planning regarding the enrollment of the 1ste year students and all active enrolled students.

Enrollment prognoses
The prognosis model has been updated by the Education Analytics team to more accurately predict the conversion of applications to enrollments as well. This includes factors such as prior education, date of application, how many other applications the student has within VU, historical conversions per programme, etc. By adding up the predicted probabilities, the expected enrollment is calculated. Large changes in conversions over the years were difficult to predict, but for most programs this model correctly predicted changes.

Applications Beta

  *   Once a student meets all enrollment requirements, the status changes to “approved” and the student is enrolled.
The number of approved applications on this reference date is 5% lower for beta bachelors than in 2023. For masters, this number is 7% higher. The difference per program is included in the tab ‘Instroomprognoses obv week 35’. The total approved applications for 2024 are very similar to the 2023 figures.
  *   The remaining admissions categories can be found in the “Herkomst & Toelatingscat.” tab.
A note has been added here for each category, explaining the conversion to last years' enrollments, based on this reference date.
For a number of programs, this presents a picture that differs somewhat from the enrollment prognosis:
     *   For mAI, mBMED, mERM, mHS en mMPA, the numbers per admission category give a slightly higher expectation than the enrollment prognosis.
  *   For the joint degrees for which the UvA is the coordinator, the data for the applications on this reference date in 2023 are incorrect. Due to an error last year, re-enrollments were also included. For 2024 the numbers are correct.
As a result, the differences in applications compared to last year are not available here. However, the final enrolment in 2023 of these programs is mentioned.
  *   Numerus Fixus numbers now remain stable.


International Office update
Compared to last week's update, the expectation of international enrollments at Beta remains more or less the same.

Planning enrolment 1st year students and totals active students
During the first week of teaching, the final admissions and rejections are still being processed at SSA. During the week of September 9, Onderwijsdata will send an update of all enrollments for each beta program, listing both the enrolment of 1ste year students and the totals of all active students. Where applicable, the numbers by specialization will also be included with this overview. A follow-up update will be distributed the week of Sept. 23.
