Dear Colleagues,

we would like to solicit additional proposals for contributions to a special issue of Genealogy entitled “Mixed Marriages in Europe and Beyond, 1945 to Brexit.” The original due date for proposals has passed, but we wish to extend the due date to October 15, 2022 to allow for contributions to address topics and issues not covered by proposals we have in hand. In particular, to explore further the transnational elements of this general topic.

Thus, we seek essays that address the emergence of mixed families as a consequence of Soviet polices of forced migration to central Asia, essays that explore the links between Europe and South America, the links between Europe and North Africa, the impact of transnational adoption on the formation of transnational families, failed marriages, divorce and the role of international private law, the legacies of fascism in terms of marriage policy/racism, transnational marriages over the “Iron curtain,” as well as the impact of the integration encouraged by the EU on transnational family formation and the impact of Brexit on such families.

Genealogy is an open access scholarly journal, as such, has a fee structure, although in recognition of pandemic conditions, fees are subject to negotiation. For the original call for papers see:

https://www.mdpi.com/journal/genealogy/special_issues/marriages

Those interested in submitting a contribution should get in touch with one of the co-editors. We would be happy to answer any questions.
