The Paul Spickard Graduate Student Paper Award for Critical Mixed Race Studies 2022
We are pleased to announce that the Paul Spickard Graduate Student Paper Award for Critical Mixed Race Studies will be granted again in 2022.

The Paul Spickard Student Paper Award was established to support and encourage young scholars in the field of critical mixed race studies and to recognize the work, career and mentoring that Professor Paul Spickard has given to the field and to many successful graduate students (and former graduate students) within it. As such, the award seeks to encourage and recognize the best paper written and given by a student/s at the Critical Mixed Race Studies Conference hosted by Arizona State University.

To be eligible for the award you must be:

1) the sole author(s) of the paper submitted (joint papers will be accepted, but both authors must be students at the time of the writing and presentation of the paper at the CMRS conference).

2) an enrolled graduate student in a recognized college or university anywhere in the world in any discipline. Eligibility will be verified and confirmed if selected.

3) a student who has not yet completed their Ph.D.

4) accepted to present at the 2022 Critical Mixed Race Studies Conference held online and hosted by Arizona State University.

To apply for the award, send your conference paper to: cmrsmixedrace at gmail.com<mailto:cmrsmixedrace at gmail.com>. Include in the subject line PAUL SPICKARD GRADUATE STUDENT PAPER AWARD by January 24, 2022.

The paper should be 8,000 – 10,000 words with discipline specific citation styles. Submission can be written in any language, but please supply an English translation. The award recipient will be chosen by a committee of scholars from a variety of disciplines.

The winner will receive: 1) a plaque in recognition of research excellence, 2) a monetary award, 3) an invitation to serve on the award committee in the future, and 4) an invitation to submit to a future CMRS conference proceedings publication.

The award will be announced at the conference on February 25, 2022.
